Regional Manager/Professional Engineer

The Engineer's primary responsibility will be to perform geotechnical and/or construction materials engineering consulting and investigations and studies in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget. The Engineer shall have the skills and experience to work independently with some direction and guidance of senior management, as needed. This will include coordinating and participating in different activities, including field observation, data collection in the field, classification of geotechnical samples and assignment of tests in the laboratory, interpretation of engineering data, performing engineering calculations and the preparation of written engineering reports. Additionally, responsibilities include managing assigned projects, support of invoice and collection activities, and participating in assigned marketing responsibilities. The Engineer must also possess good communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with fellow Raba Kistner employees, clients, and the general public.
Additional important responsibilities include: marketing and selling consulting and testing services; the efficient and economical use of company resources in the analyses and solution of engineering problems; preparation of forensic, engineering and test reports; managing assigned personnel; preparation of proposals including scoping and pricing; and training and monitoring of construction materials technicians in the laboratory and field.
Serves as an Engineer on geotechnical and/or construction materials testing engineering projects including project coordination from the beginning to the end of the project
Completes projects and reports in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget
Provides mentorship and professional development to other professional, technical, clerical and support staff members
Performs consulting activities as required on company projects, and working in unison with staff members in Austin and other offices
Possess knowledge of the testing procedures used in a geotechnical and construction materials testing laboratory (ASTM, AASTHO, USCOE, etc.)
Performs data collection and field observations on forensic projects
Coordinates field activities with subcontractors and Raba Kistner's field staff
Prepares laboratory testing assignments on projects in accordance with the testing program established in the proposal
Analyzes field data, laboratory test results and performs calculations necessary for completion of engineering reports
Submits draft engineering reports for review and final reports for co-signature of senior staff members
Through personal professional development and working with senior staff, develops a working understanding of applicable standards, specifications, and engineering practices to develop competence to review assigned engineering reports and construction documents
Possess a competent understanding of construction plans and specifications, as well as good accepted engineering practices to be used in the review of assigned engineering reports and construction documents
Performs field observation services in support of the Construction Materials Testing Section, as well as for forensic investigations
Provide a leadership role in expanding our professional practice into the Central Texas market. Work with the Direct Report and Corporate Development in coordinating San Antonio office business development programs
Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example
Other duties as assigned by Direct Report
Reviews prebilling invoices on projects for which the engineer is assigned
Contacts and follows up with Clients on invoicing and status of payment
Within a three month period, achieves average billing level of not less than 45 percent
Serves as "sales engineer/company representative" while working with clients and professional organizations
Responsible for the growing the Raba Kistner name and work back-log in North Central Texas
Actively participates in specific technical and/or professional organizations as determined by Vice President, Engineering Services
Immediately notifies Senior Vice President, Engineering Services and Chairman of the Board of all potential disputes that may lead to legal claims or litigation
As requested, supports Chairman of the Board to settle disputes or defend against litigation
Possess Professional Engineer License in the State of Texas, and a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited school
Possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience performing engineering consulting and managing service lines
Good oral communication skills to interact with clients and staff successfully. Speaking with clarity and understanding skills are a necessity to prevent costly and time consuming problems
Good written communication skills for preparing proposals, reports, and other engineering documents
Presents a professional appearance to best represent the firm
Good organizational skills to utilize firm resources efficiently and effectively
Possess valid Texas driver's license and meet company's auto insurability requirements
Heavy lifting and carrying (45+ lbs) of tools and equipment
Walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and repeated bending as needed while working on sites
Distinguish colors and shades of color for identification and analysis
Ability to drive company vehicle, manage and complete all assigned jobs, efficiently and on time
Ability to comply with all attendance requirements as noted in most current edition of Corporate Policy Manual
Works in a normal office environment as well as outside which is subject to varying weather conditions
Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction sites and hazards of dangerous chemical/solvents exposure that may require proper safety procedures be followed
Potential for exposure to noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and equipment vibration
May work on ladders and in confined spaces
May work protracted or irregular hours due to client needs (i.e., other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and/or other than Monday through Friday)
Ability to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain
Work related responsibilities require travel out of town to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations
Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
