Bell County is seeking a Director for the award winning Bell County Museum, founded in 1988, located in Belton, Texas in the heart of Central Texas region. Originally housed in the historic Carnegie Library building, the museum completed a 10,000 square-foot expansion in 2006 after a $1.2 million capital campaign. The museum has over 16,000 artifacts in its collection which includes an outstanding photography collection and the Governor Miriam Amanda Ma Ferguson collection. As part of the 2006 expansion, the museum includes approximately 3,000 square-foot gallery for temporary exhibitions, two outdoor archeology pits, a circle for a tipi installation and a bronze monument to the Chisholm Trail. In addition to the storage space at the museum proper, the museum also has a 5,000 square-foot off-site storage space. The museum is also directly connected to the Gault Site in west Bell County and other permanent geological sites in Central Texas. Work requires broad knowledge of state, local and national history, as well as best museum practices, in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in history, museum studies or related field. Master's Degree preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
