The City of Belton The City of Belton Belton, TX Belton, TX Full-time Full-time $38,475 - $42,000 a year $38,475 - $42,000 a year 12 days ago 12 days ago 12 days ago JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent, the Recreation Coordinator will plan, create, develop, direct, implement, and evaluate private and public recreational programming.
Work directly with department heads, the general public, and outside agencies in establishing and implementing recreational programming.
Requires a highly motivated and creative individual.
SUPERVISION RECEIVES direct supervision from the Recreation Superintendent.
EXERCISES no supervision.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Recreation Planning Develop and implement a comprehensive recreation program for the City.
Establish short and long-range priorities, goals, and objectives for recreation offerings.
Submit ideas for new programs, as well as improve existing programs.
Develop marketing tools, website and miscellaneous printed materials to increase support and participation in recreation activities.
Assist with recruitment and oversight of events related to volunteers.
Serve as a liaison between City staff and various other organizations to ensure policies are followed during events, in accordance City ordinances.
Prepare and maintain adequate inventory and upkeep of all operational equipment.
Exercise excellent customer service skills and maintain effective communication and positive working relationships with City staff and outside agencies.
Harris Community Center Respond to public inquiries about recreation, special events, and seasonal programs made by telephone, correspondence, or walk in customers.
Work with customers to communicate rental options relating to room layouts, costs, and general usage policies.
Assist customers with audio and visual equipment.
Work with City departments scheduling logistics and implementing City functions.
Perform all Harris Center maintenance needs including cleaning, restocking, room setups, and teardowns.
Maintain logs of monthly and yearly building maintenance requirements, including air filter changes, fire extinguisher inspections, etc.
Perform grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, tree and shrubbery trimming, trash and debris removal, and operation and maintenance of irrigation system.
Parks Manage the Community Garden Program.
Manage the Legacy and Adopt A Park Programs.
Assist customers with special projects (Eagle Scout, Gold Medal.
) Assist customers with all City Park rentals including athletic fields.
Communicate effectively with the Parks maintenance department.
Other Duties Serve as Liaison to the Youth Advisory Commission.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Parks and Recreation or event planning is preferred, but not required.
No experience is required.
Knowledge of:
Modern principles and practices of parks, recreation and event planning including recent developments, current literature and sources of information in this field.
Cash handling skills.
Facilities and grounds maintenance best practices.
Basic electrical and construction repair knowledge.
Basic computer applications including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
) Skills and Abilities:
Analyze, interpret, summarize, and present information and data in an effective manner.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Present programs and ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and written.
Demonstrate skills in writing, editing, and grammar.

Operate vehicles, maintenance equipment, and tools required by the job.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Possess a valid Texas driver's license.
Certified Parks & Recreation Professional certification issued by the National Recreation and Park Association is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND CONDITIONS Work is performed in a standard office environment, as well as outside locations.
May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry and vision to monitor.
May require standing, sitting, walking.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
