Unit Summary

This 20-bed nursing unit provides the opportunity to work in a multi-faceted environment that combines ICU, Intermediate Care, and Medical Surgical care all on one unit. The Universal Care Unit is able to provide for all of the patient's care needs for the entire hospitalization from the most intense, including hemodynamic monitoring and critical care therapies, to recovery needs such as progressive ambulation/rehabilitation and education enabling the patient to be safely discharged. By providing care across the entire continuum, no longer does the patient with unstable vital signs in the general medical-surgical unit need to wait for an ICU bed to become available. Instead of focusing on the transfer process, nurses can continue to concentrate on the patient's acute care needs.

If you are an experienced ICU RN (Registered Nurse) this is a great place to utilize and well round your skills! If you are an experienced Med/Surg RN this unit gives you an opportunity to gain ICU skills while still working in your comfort zone!
